To start, you must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and be covered by county insurance. The Arizona State Bar Association does not require any specific pre-legal education for its members. However, they do require that members have graduated from an American Bar Association (ABA) approved law school.
Generally, these schools require applicants to have a bachelor's degree at least. The Lawyer Admission Unit is responsible for processing all applications for admission to the Arizona State Bar, providing administrative support to the Examination Committee and the Character and Physical Fitness Committee, and administering the Arizona Bar Exam. This unit implements the procedures required of law school graduates to obtain the certification necessary to practice law in Arizona. If you don't want to pursue a law degree, there are still other options available. You can work in areas where a license is not required to practice law, such as compliance, contracts, risk management, human resources, public policy, parole, insurance, finance, real estate, urban planning, and administration. The Arizona State Bar Board of Legal Specialization recognizes and certifies attorneys who want to specialize in certain areas.
